flourish new hires
Morgan and Merritt

Our interns have finally graduated to full-time positions at Flourish! Their hard work and dedication has proven to be very valuable to our team and we look forward to their continued success. Merritt and Morgan are here to give you an inside peek into their first two months at Flourish.

Merritt:

I am beyond grateful for the opportunity that Flourish has given me at this position. After I graduated from the University of North Alabama (UNA) last May, the ongoing pandemic halted my plans in finding a job. Luckily, Flourish took a chance on me and has allowed me to sharpen my work skills.

My time in the classroom at UNA prepared me for different aspects of the PR world. I learned how to work with clients firsthand and to meet strict deadlines. The Department of Communications at UNA also does a fantastic job of fostering business relationships and mentoring students. I would not be where I am today if it were not for the mentors and professors I had to guide me along my college career.

Morgan:

When I graduated from The University of North Alabama, I knew I wanted to work for a full-service firm but at the time, there were limited opportunities available. I was over the moon when I was given the opportunity to work at Flourish.

While at UNA, I was heavily involved on campus while I also worked part-time for Royal Cup Coffee. In addition, I was provided with ample support and guidance by my professors that truly helped shape me into the young professional I am becoming today.

From my very first day at Flourish, I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be. The fast-paced environment and variety of clients always keeps me on my toes and pushes me to be my very best every single day. I am so excited for the opportunity to grow into a strong professional and sharpen my skills with the help of the entire team here.

Their first tasks at Flourish were to create a holiday campaign for our involvement in local community events. This year, Flourish decided to participate in United Cerebral Palsy of Huntsville’s (UCP Huntsville) first ever ‘Flipping for the Future‘ dollhouse fundraiser. Flourish also sponsored and decorated a tree for Downtown Huntsville’s Tinsel Trail. ‘Flipping for the Future’ is based on the concept of revamping old dollhouses with a new twist, then putting them up for auction. The highest bidder on each home wins, with 100 percent of the proceeds going back to UCP Huntsville. Not only was this a fun first project, but it confirmed Flourish’s desire to make big impacts within our community – beyond what we do for our clients on a day-to-day basis. The entire Flourish team brainstormed ideas and themes we wanted to capture through our tree and dollhouse. From there, Morgan and Merritt took creative lead in planning and implementing those ideas. They presented our strategic plan on how they would achieve our goals while promoting these fantastic organizations. Their plan consisted of a variety of elements, to include logo and design recommendations, development of a content and social media strategy, local-area media engagement plans, promotional video ideas and more. Once approved by the team, the two got to work and spent the next several weeks executing their plan. They were even able to secure a local news story featuring Leslie Walker, UCP Huntsville’s Community Engagement Manager, to talk about the initiative and promote area-wide bidding. It was hard work, but well worth it to know that their efforts benefit the impactful services that UCP provides within our community and to the families and individuals UCP serve.

Morgan and Merritt are both so excited to have the opportunity to work with the strong, influential women on the Flourish team, and can’t wait to see what is in store for them at Flourish.
